Surya Yoga
PURIFY***STRENGTHEN***FORTIFY
Surya Yoga is a fun, formatted engaging heated yoga class that provides a total body workout while still incorporating breath and more traditional hatha yoga practices. Class begins with warming pranayama and kriya practices, then moves to a strong series of asanas to strengthen the lower and upper body, we then move onto core work to strengthen abdominals, inner thighs and the back, and finish class with a therapeutic floor series to leave the body feeling stronger and more open. Classes heated from 90-95 degress.
Yin Yoga
LONG***SLOW***DEEP
Yin Yoga is a slow powerful class designed to quiet down, de-compress, and heal. Class begins with several simple long-held asanas (each posture is held three to ten minutes) for deep relaxation and eradication of stress and toxins accumulated in our muscles, ligaments, bones, joints and internal organs. After opening and quieting down our body, we begin our seated meditation. You will be guided through several meditation techniques. Classes support a spacious body, and mental state that is clear, amazingly light, and content. All levels welcome..
Class Levels
Level 1-2 classes are designed for students who are newer to yoga as well as those who have been practicing for years and prefer to work at a moderate pace. Teachers at Sutra are very adept at teaching to multi-level students, giving students the opportunity to make the class mellow or a bit more intense.
Level 2-3 classes are for students who feel comfortable with the regular terminology of a yoga class and have at least a little understanding of pranayama, meditation, bhanda, and kriya practices.
Level 2-3 generally moves at a little bit of a faster pace with a little less explanation of the basics, but students are welcome to tailor the practice to make it more gentle.
Surya Yoga and Yin/Meditation are open to all levels of students.
